This is actually my partner idea, but he asked me to do this as a research in my English class. Yes, this is also become my next research task. Every year our teachers have to do at least one class research in order to improve their skill in teaching. Our foundation strict regulations push us to do so. Last year I dealt with reading , this year I choose writing as a skill to be researched.
My objects are my students, they are in the 8th grade. It means their age is around 14. Their age indicates their characteristic ; curious, creative, wild, and often misbehave. Related to the writing skill, they are lack of experience because they have few writing tasks when they were in elementary. Vocabulary and grammar are also my other obstacles, but I hope with this kind of frameworks in writing they can do better. Well, that is also my goal: to make them write at least a paragraph rich of information in it.
Basically, the 4 steps are the simple steps that we often miss in writing. These simple steps are brainstorming, grouping, making sentences, and writing paragraph. The details of each step is described as follow;
This is a step that everyone should used in every field. In this case brainstorming is an activity to write everything what crossed in our mind based on the certain context. We can start with a question; what do you have in mind if you hear the word 'tutorial', for instance. It will come to another words related to 'tutorial' such as make things, how to make, materials, etc.
In this step the writer is expected to make small groups based on the thing in the previous step. For example category for tutorial are making thing, how to use, how to operate, or how to run thing. From each category we can expand it into other group like materials, tools, tips and trick, etc.
Based on the brainstorming and grouping steps, we can make sentences to elaborate our idea. Sentence describes our idea in a good writing language and make our idea clearer. By writing it we can also explain to the reader our messages.
Paragraph makes reader easily absorb our message since in the paragraph ideas are delivered in a good order. Generally, a text consist of several paragraphs such as introduction, main issues (problem, steps, conflict, etc), and conclusion (problem solving, opinion, or comment).
These frameworks of writing is essential to put all our ideas in a good place. Good writing is when we deliver words in a good sequence, while making good sequence needed preparation and practice.
